About Pastor W.C. Kenan

Pastor William C. Kenan is the visionary pastor and founder of Faith Temple Church of God in Christ, Inc. located in Midland, Texas.


His ministry spans more than 40 years during which he has literally impacted the lives of thousands. He has ministered in various settings such as workshops, seminars, conferences, revivals, crusades, radio, and television. 

Born in North Carolina, he studied medicine at the Hampton Institute in Hampton, VA prior to a four-year tour of duty in the Air Force. While in the military he was led to Christ and his life of service and dedication to God has been legendary. A trademark of his leadership style has been his ability to build-up the ministries where he has served. To his credit, he has remodeled several churches, built two churches on the Navajo Indian reservation, and played a significant role in helping other churches to become debt free. 

After coming to Midland, Pastor Kenan was among the first Black pastors anywhere whose ministry was being televised. Almost simultaneously with his founding of Faith Temple, he organized and implemented the Spiritual Explosion. This annual event has been the cause of many coming to Christ, and it has provided an oasis in the desert for countless others. Pastor Kenan has served the Church of God in Christ in numerous capacities. Presently he serves as Pastor of Faith Temple COGIC - Midland, TX, District Superintendent of the Kingdom Gathering Ministries, and Administrative Assistant to the Jurisdictional Bishop.


He and his beloved late wife,Lady Bertha Kenan partnered together for years to win souls for Christ, and the vision of their ministry continues to unfold. Pastor and Lady Kenan have four children - Sharnette Kenan, Sheryl Randolph - Pastor of Destiny Church, Shanda McWilliams (Elder Michael McWilliams - Pastor of Dominion Word Ministries C.O.G.I.C) and William Cersle Kenan II (Christie Kenan) and seven wonderful grandchildren
